Registrations open for M-Enabling Australasia 2013

Registrations are now open for the M-Enabling Australasia 2013 conference and showcase being held in Sydney on 14th and 15th August. This international event will feature a stellar line up of speakers and showcase new products and services that enable people with disability and older people to make the most of mobile technologies.

Communiqué: an update on audio description on TV

When the trial of audio description (AD) ended on 5 November last year, Communications Minister Senator Stephen Conroy acknowledged the strong desire for the service to continue and agreed to work together with all parties towards establishing a permanent AD service on Australian TV in the future.

Deaf Australia Survey

With the financial support of ACCAN, Deaf Australia, the national peak organisation for Deaf people in Australia, is undertaking a national online survey about mobile phone usage by Deaf people. If you are Deaf or hard of hearing, take the survey and be in the running to win an iPad mini.

Internet in remote Indigenous communities

In late November ACCAN’s Indigenous policy officer, Michael Charlton, took part in a fieldtrip to central Australia as part of the ongoing Home Internet for Remote Indigenous Communities project.
